I have always wanted to visit Myanmar. The country bursts of tradition, nature and culture…and as it only opened up to the world, there is a sense of innocence that fascinates me.
And so I was very happy when work presented me with the opportunity to go to Yangon. Though I would have loved to explore the rest of the country, this would have to wait for later.
With such a little time here, I had to sort out my “must explore” list. And the Belmond Governor’s Residence is one of them.
A colonial-style mansion built in the 1920s, it is located in the “Embassy Quarter” near the Shwedagon Pagoda. It served as the official home of the British governors of Burma, hence its grandeur presence.
The grand architecture is impressive…and hints on the grandiosity of its past.
Set amidst a lush garden, the hotel also exudes a romantic vibe.
Follow the path to...
…an oasis away from the hustle and bustle of Yangon!
Even with the grandeur vibe, the restaurant - which serves local exotic food –
still has a relaxed and cozy vibe.
Enjoying this mansion with my coconut…oh, bliss!
