When in Ubud, you gotta do the dirty duck.
And so Bebek Bengil it was.
The “dirty duck” did intrigue me. And initially I did not really know what to expect. Apparently, when the restaurant was about to open, a flock of ducks from the rice paddies ran quaking all over the restaurant – leaving muddy footprints. Hence, the restaurant name is an homage to these dirty ducks.
Surrounded by rice paddies with traditional structures, Bebek Bengil oozes the cozy Bali vibe. It was just a chill lunch with good food and happy people.
Bebek Bengil has been serving their dirty ducks since 1990. Remember, when you’re in Ubud, you gotta do the dirty duck.
Green everywhere! Amidst nature and rice paddies, the restaurant offers a relaxed and casual vibe.
Hungry tummies excitedly waiting for our dirty ducks!
The Original Crispy Duck is served with vegetables, sambal and a slice of watermelon. I researched and apparently, the duck is marinated with local herbs and spices for 36 hours. Then steamed and deep-friend for that crispy touch. Yum yum!
